My Random Act of Kindness for you Leontien

Leontien VandeLaar was one of those amazingly inspiring women who made you stop and think about what was really important in your life. I followed Leontien's journey at www.fourleafcloverdairy.blogspot.com. (Dont judge I'm using the blogger app so it won't let me insert a link :). While I may have never actually met her you almost feel like you have as you follow their life through their blog. She had such strength and will power through her fight with cancer that was incredibly inspiring. Her positive attitude really made me look at my attitude at times and realize perhaps mine needed to be put in check!

On January 10 Heaven gained another angel as she, what I would like to say, finally beat cancer in a sense. Yesterday would have been her 34th birthday and it was asked in honor of her to do a random act of kindness. Now we all should want to do a random act of kindness on a daily basis but sometimes life gets crazy and busy and it takes things like this to bring us back to reality and what is really important.

Yesterday my day was spent at a farm tradeshow so on my way in to man our booth I stopped to get a coffee in hopes of keeping my eyelids open. I bought the coffee for the guy behind me as my pay it forward. The drive-through window guy was quite surprised and asked really? As I said I'd like to buy the order behind me. Apparently that doesn't happen often.

I encourage/challenge you all to do a random act of kindness. It doesn't have to be buying the next guy in lines order but maybe volunteering somewhere, supporting an organization you feel strongly about, or giving to your favorite charity. One may not think that a bought coffee is a big deal but you never know what is going on in the life of the person behind you. Perhaps that bought coffee was just what he needed. So here is to Leontien and may all of you take the step to "pay it forward".

Good day!

Happy New Year......resolution?

Well hello 2013! I hope that you all had an amazing new year as well as a fulfilling 2012! I have been thinking quite a bit about this resolution business. I don't even know if I made one last year. I always think health and fitness is an ok idea but kind if lame. As I sit here pondering the question and listening to music videos it hit me!

Since I took a new job that lands me back in Ohio my New Years resolution is to become a better more involved Ohio resident. This is hard because I have been in Michigan for like the last 7 years and have great friends, connections, and mentors. I will always be a Spartan. Now just a relocated one. It's hard being a Spartan in buckeye nation :)

My goal for 2013 is to become more involved as well as volunteer more. I have started out pretty strong so far so we will
see how long the enthusiasm lasts. (I mean we are only 5 days into the new year). I'm optimistic!! I feel this is pretty realistic which I think is key to keeping and achieving goals.

What are some of your goals or resolutions for the new year?

Happy 2013!!!
